Happy Thanksgiving!!

Well I had a great Thanksgiving today, it's always a little bitter sweet since I have a great time, but I really miss being with my family in California. We went to Spencer's parents house like always and brought a couple friends along with us, Troy & Brooke and Andrew & Kathy. It was great having them there with us and I'm glad they were able to spend the holiday with us since their families are out west. The food was great, but I guess that's pretty normal for this group!
I feel this year with the economy being where it is and times being extra tough, especially being in a construction business I have a lot to be thankful for. Some how we have continued to be able to make ends meet every month and thanks to figuring out couponing we have stocked up on things that I would have never imagined. It has also been great because doing this has brought some of the family closer together and that has been awesome getting to know them even better. This year we added a sweet baby boy to our family and I am so thankful for Lucas and my 2 girls, Kendra & Kaylie. I have three healthy and happy children and that means the world to me. I am of course thankful for my husband. Spencer is such a hard worker and he is doing his best to give this family what we need. I sure love him and although I don't always show it, but he is pretty great!

7 Hours and counting....

My baby boy is already sleeping 7 hours at night and I am loving it! I didn't experience this with Kaylie until she was....well I don't even remember, but I know it didn't happen for a while. Anyway, I read the book On Becoming Baby Wise and I know that has changed the way I am a new mom to my little Lucas. (Thanks Amy!)

Well Lucas Brock will be 5 weeks old tomorrow morning, I can't believe time is going by so fast. He is getting so big, but that's exciting because now he is fitting into 0-3 month clothes, which give me more options...not just cotton bottoms and tops. I tired a dress shirt, pants and a tie on him the other day...the pants were a little big still, but the outfit will fit soon enough. He is a great napper and the only real complaint is his reflux. I started him on some medication for that Friday and have already seen an improvement, which I didn't expect for at least a few days to a week or so. I am so glad, he seemed so uncomfortable every time he ate. Let's just hope that stays good. He is nursing about every 3 hours, sometimes I have to wake him during the day to feed him, but it pays off to have him sleeping so well at night. Before I put him to bed I do feed him 2 hours from his last feeding and that seems to help him sleep longer. He is a wonderful baby, what can I say? I guess he is mine so of course all mom's say that about their little ones.

Kendra and Kaylie are great big sisters, always wanting to hold their baby brother and help me out. I feel so lucky to have 3 wonderful children....well wonderful most of the time! Kendra is in gymnastics once a week and doing great at that. Kaylie is messing up my house about 90% of the day and she is doing super great at that... At the end of the day it can be a little much, but I have to remember they are kids and they will all make messes....I just need to remember that when I am about to go crazy over the 100th mess of the day!

I have been a serious slacker when it comes to taking pictures of the kids. I am going to make a better attempt at that starting this week. I need to get some pictures taken for our Chrismtas cards, but I need to figure out where and what I want them to dress in. The last couple years I have had the girls in dresses, but I think I might make it a little more casual this time around...now that we are adding a boy to the mix! Sorry for the lack of good pictures, I'll try better :)

Spencer...well he is busy working like always, but he's been home a lot more so I am grateful for that. He lends a hand every so often when he has a spare moment, but I know he would help more often if he didn't have to work so much (all day long!!!!!!!!) :) That's me putting on a happy face! He's a good hubby and he is so great with the kids!

Me!!! Wow, haven't taken much time for that lately. I am doing what I do, being a mom. I have been sewing a little bit again. I made a sling and a taggie blanket for a baby shower I went to...they turned out awesome...I was so excited. I then made Brock a taggie last night with Brooke and I'm happy about how it turned out....but I would advise you to NOT iron minky dot fabric, it really screws it up! Well here are the few pics that I have from the last week or so!

I found Kaylie eating a carton of ice cream in the kitchen using 6 spoons & wearing NO clothes! Lucas before I changed his dirty diaper!!!

My happy boy after I changed his dirty diaper!!
Here is where Lucas sleeps... This is the taggie blanket I made for him!
Here is the taggie blanket I made for my friend, who is having a girl!

Don't even ask....she's just silly!!

Cousins

Lucas met 3 of his cousins for the first time this last weekend. These are Kevin, Spencer's brother's kids, Michael, Kacey & Makenzie. Michael & Lucas are actually the only 2 Meadows boys right now, kinda cool.

Lucas Newborn Pics

Well I had Lucas' newborn pictures taken the week my dad was here, they turned out ok. Lucas wasn't cooperating very well, but he is still so stinkin' cute!

We went to the doctor today because I was thinking he might have reflux and he does. They started him on Prevacid once a day and I am hoping that works. Kaylie was on Zantac, but that hasn't gotten the best results for reflux so our office isn't prescribing that anymore. He isn't too bad, but he has started spitting up and seems uncomfortable after most of his feedings. I just didn't want him to be in pain so I figured a trip to the doctor was the best solution and I'm glad I went.

Today my friend Amy took some pictures of him for his birth annoucments, which I really need to get done sooner than later. He was really fussy at first so I nursed him to sleep, then he woke up and got even fussier so Amy gave him some Gripe Water...I don't know what it is, but I know it's for babies and it worked great. He totally stopped fussing and then was totally content and she was probably able to get much better pictures of him. Thanks Amy!

Lucas Update

Lucas had his 2nd doctors appointment last Thursday to check his weight to make sure he was back to his birth weight. His first visit was when he was 4 days old and he weighed 6.11 pounds and was still 19" long. His weight was in the 8th percentile and his height was in the 24th. This last visit he already weighed 8 pounds and was 20.5" long...wow! My baby is growing so fast already. He is now in the 36th percentile for his weight, so the doctor was very pleaded with his growth. I don't remember what percentile his height is now, but that has gone up also.

I can't believe that he is 3 weeks old today, he is looking less like a newborn and it's sad and exciting at the same time. I love the new baby look and I know I am going to miss it like crazy, but I also love seeing him grow and can't wait for things like his first smile and to hear his first laugh. I feel so lucky to be able to have an adorable healthy little boy! Well here are a few pictures of him and his big sisters from these last couple weeks.

Dad's Visit

Well I haven't posted for a couple weeks now. My dad came to visit us for a week and we had a lot of fun with him here. Kaylie sure loved having Grandpa at our house all the time. we did a lot of shopping and a lot of hanging out also. We were able to make short trip to Disney World and Kaylie road a few rides with my dad. This was also Lucas' first trip to Magic Kingdom and he road the carousel and It's a Small World. We were super sad to have my dad leave and Kaylie started crying when we got home from dropping him off at the airport because she realized he wasn't there anymore (she slept to and from the airport)...she cried until I turned some cartoons on for her...then she was fine. But now every day she wants either her Auntie Kristi and Grandma or Grandpa to take her to Disney to see Mickey Mouse. It's funny, but she'll be waiting a long while if she wants them to take her. Here are some fun pics from his visit.
