Something for Caroline to read while getting her oil changed!

Buy Your  Own Gifts!
Last Christmas, grandpa was feeling his age, and found that shopping for Christmas gifts had become too difficult. So he decided to send checks to everyone instead.

In each card he wrote, "Buy your own present!" and mailed them early.

He enjoyed the usual flurry of family festivities, and it was only after the holiday that he noticed that he had received very few cards in return. Puzzled over this, he went into his study, intending to write a couple of his relatives and ask what had happened. It was then, as he cleared off his cluttered desk that he got his answer. Under a stack of papers, he was horrified to find the gift checks which he had forgotten to enclose with the cards.

A Letter to Santa From Mom!

Dear Santa,
I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my two children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor, sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground and figured out how to attach nine patches onto my daughter's girl scout sash with staples and a glue gun.

I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:
I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache after a day of chasing kids (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't flap in the breeze but are strong enough to carry a screaming toddler out of the candy aisle in the grocery store. I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy. If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like a car with fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.

On the practical side, I could use a talking daughter doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with one potty-trained toddler, two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools. I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting, "Don't eat in the living room" and 'Take your hands off your brother,' because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog. And please don't forget the Playdoh Travel Pack, the hottest stocking stuffer this year for mothers of preschoolers. It comes in three fluorescent colors and is guaranteed to crumble on any carpet making the in-laws' house seem just like mine. If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container. If you don't mind I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family; or if my toddler didn't look so cute sneaking downstairs to eat contraband ice cream in his pajamas at midnight.
Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back. Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the chimney and come in and dry off by the fire so you don't catch a cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

Yours Always...Mom.

P.S. - One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe in Santa.

Laughter

Tonight we pulled the cameras out to take a picture of our ever amusing son, Lucas! With the help of Kaylie he decided to dress in her pajamas for bed! I said no, Spencer said just leave it alone! Yes...my husband thought it was funny. So out came the cameras and it followed with laughter. The 3 oldest all ended up on Kendra's bed tackling each other.
My poor little Chaz is getting his 2 bottom teeth in and he is miserable! I wanted to cheer him up so I pulled out my camera and hello smiles. Of course I couldn't let the day go by without getting a picture of him in his "my mom is hot" shirt! Love it! Notice the little tear in the first picture...

Gotta hurry...

Ok it's bedtime! Actually, it's way past bedtime. Bedtime was about oh say an hour or two ago. Yet I am sitting here at my computer with Caroline running through my mind. Yes, you! You have inspired us all to blog more often. I don't know if I can do it daily, but I sure as heck plan on pulling my camera out to take more pictures.

Today I had some friends over to craft with me. You see, I need friends over to help me...that way I actually do what I set out to do. Today....Turkey day shirts for the kids. For the girls, turkeys and for the boys, pilgrim hats. Thanks girls for a great day!

After everyone was gone for the night I went to get Lucas, who was playing in the bathroom on the counter. All week he has been showing me a boo boo he has on his knee. Tonight the cutest thing ever, he was trying to wash it off in the sink. I had seen him use a baby wipe, but this was so much more priceless, I love this kid!

I am so proud of Kaylie and how much she is learning in school. She surprises me daily with the new songs and things she has learned. The other day she came home with a paper that had her first and last name written on it...I asked her who helped her spell Meadows...no one :) She already knows how to spell her first and last name by herself. Tonight she decided she wanted to learn how to spell her middle name. I love just sitting there watching her do homework!

Chaz is all over the place. Tonight he climbed into the ottoman, which I use as a diaper caddy! Such a goof...and yes I have been feeding him too much orange baby food!

I'm Back!!

So not only have I been super busy, but I decided to start a new blog about my fun craft and cooking days! Check it out, http://sixteen22.blogspot.com/. I can't wait to get started on it.

What's been happening in our life?

We moved! Yes, we are finally out of the 2 bedroom condo and now into a 4 bedroom 3 bath house. Life is fabulous...still messy, but more room!

Kaylie started Pre-K and is having a blast learning. I can't believe she turns 5 in only 3 months! This girl has to be without a doubt...mini ME!

Kendra is in 5th grade, wow! Last year at Elementary school...I'm getting old! She will be 11 years old in less than a month. Do you know what kind of attitude came with 10???? I can't say I am ready for 11!

Lucas is hilarious! He is 2 now and keeps me on my toes. I love the new words he learns every day. He loves to copy everything anyone says or does!

Chaz (Sawyer) is my little Mr. Personality. He is so much fun and the kids have a blast with this little guy. He is 9 months old on the 18th, it's so crazy to think that in 3 months he is going to be a year old.

Spencer is doing great at work and with all of his side jobs we are pretty much back on track for the most part.

Me...well I am busier than I swear I have ever been, but it's great. Of course life isn't all roses, but I can go to bed at night with a smile on my face no matter how challenging the day has been and I can definitely say that I what I have always wanted!

Early Mother's Day & Cute Cousins

We set out to get a picture of the cousins, there are a total of 23! We luckily ended up with having 17 of them there and it was cute chaos! The kids were hungry and tired and not wanting to take a picture! Here are some of the pics!

My sister in law, Joanna, was in town from New York so we were able to celebrate Mother's Day early with her. It was such a fun night with all the Mom's. We had our traditional Curried Chicken Salad, which is my favorite with croissants and romaine lettuce. Then some yummy desserts. My mother in law told us all funny stories about our husbands, which of course made us just laugh! Thank you Judi for an awesome night!

1 Month Old!

I swear I brought my baby boy home from the hospital just the other day...and now he is 1 month old! (last Thursday)! I hate to say time flies by, but it really does. He is my chunky monkey and I just love him to pieces. The kids love having Sawyer finally out of Mommy's belly and I have to agree with them. When I see the rest of my pregnant friends I am so grateful I am no longer pregnant. It was not a comfy pregnancy and I would much rather hold my little man in my arms.

Of course Sawyer isn't doing much yet, but his looks are changing so fast. He is already 10 pounds and to me that is insane. My other babies didn't hit 10 pounds for a while. Heck, Kaylie was only 16 pounds when she was 1 and Lucas was 19...so I am very interested in seeing where Sawyer ends up.

Sawyer was blessed at church a couple weekends ago by Spencer, it was such a special day for me. I love listening to the blessings being given to him as such a small child and to think of what he might do with his life as he grows and gets older.

We haven't been up to much at our house lately, just adjusting to having our new sweet boy home. This weekend we did get a chance to relax as a family. I took Kaylie to run some errands in the morning and Spencer took Kendra on her date night then we watched a movie as a family before we were all off to bed. It was a great weekend and I feel like we all got to really enjoy one another :) It made me very happy.

Here are some pictures of my sweet kids!

My mom and brother Jason also came for a visit after Sawyer was born...too many pics to choose from, but here are a couple. I was so glad to have them here :) They were amazing! We miss them tons!

My Dad came to visit just a couple days after my Mom and Jason left. It was so great to spend time with my Dad...we really miss him too!

Love,
Kate
